Discipleship
Leader: Mike Simcox

What is Discipleship Training?

"Follow Me ... and I will make you fishers of men."  -Matthew 4:19

The church was given to mankind to equip and train the army of God. Before His death on the cross, Jesus proclaimed that He had completed His work of making disciples (John 17:4-9). The disciples were ready to go and make disciples themselves; all they needed was the Holy Spirit. If Jesus had died on the cross for our sins but had not made disciples who could deliver the message, none of us would have heard the good news.

We are to make disciples as well (Matthew 28:18-20). A disciple is a person who knows and follows Jesus, is being changed by Jesus, and is committed to the mission of Jesus. Discipleship Training is designed to give you the equipment and training you need to strengthen your walk with Jesus and to equip and train you to make disciples. We need practice using the equipment. That is Discipleship TRAINING.

At College Avenue, we offer several opportunities for your continued discipleship growth that are outside of the regular Sunday morning classes. Discipleship classes are varied and may meet Sunday evenings, Tuesday mornings or other times throughout the week, depending on the group.  Courses change during the year based on the needs and interest of the Church Body, so be sure to check here often!

If you are interested in starting and/or leading a discipleship course, please contact Mike Simcox or Pastor Chip by phone or e-mail.
